Import & protect
Back up media to your computer over Wi-Fi
Download local media or an encrypted ZIP from GPlayer to your computer, with illustrated connection, packaging and password steps.
On this page ⌄
Screenshots use an isolated simulator and demo media. Addresses, verification codes and ZIP passwords shown here belong to the demonstration, not your device.
Connect your phone and computer
- Connect your iPhone or iPad and computer to the same local network.
- In GPlayer, open Settings → Import Resources → Wi-Fi Transfer. Use standard access mode, then tap Start.
- Keep this page open and GPlayer in the foreground. On your computer, open the complete address displayed on the phone, including its path, in a browser.
No SMB share or cloud account is required. Use the address on your own device; the screenshot address is only a demonstration. If the address does not appear, check the network connection and try again.
Authorize the browser
- Opening the address starts a browser approval request. Compare the code on the computer with the code shown on the phone.
- On the phone, tap Authorize browser. The browser can then display the transfer page.
- If the request is not yours, choose Reject browser.
Only one browser is accepted at a time. To use another computer or browser, choose Change device (new address) on the phone and open the new address. The old address/session is no longer the connection to use. If approval expires, start a fresh request and compare the code again.
Choose what to back up
On the computer, use the download area to open a folder. Parent folder returns to its parent, Refresh updates the listing, and Load more loads another page when available.
- Download beside a file saves that individual media file.
- Package this folder prepares a ZIP of the current directory.
- Package all media prepares a ZIP of all eligible local media.
The catalog lists registered local media in the standard library, including its private media storage; it excludes trash items and missing files. A ZIP can include related subtitle files and available media sidecars, such as source and prompt information. It is not a complete app database/settings backup and does not reproduce every playlist. Single-file download does not include those accompanying files. Keep the downloaded folder structure and sidecars together.
Check space and create a ZIP
- Choose Package this folder or Package all media, then wait for the size calculation.
- Review the media count, original size, estimated ZIP size and phone free space. The required temporary space includes a 256 MiB reserve. Also check your computer’s free space yourself.
- Tap Create ZIP and keep both pages open until ZIP ready appears.
If free space is insufficient or cannot be determined, download individual files or package smaller directories. The estimate and final ZIP size may differ. This is a newly generated archive, not an automatic or incremental synchronization task.
Download and verify the saved file
- When packaging finishes, click Download / download ZIP again in the browser.
- Wait for the browser download to finish, then find the actual file in the computer’s download folder. Check its size and open it with a compatible archive tool.
- If the download was interrupted, use the same button to download the still-available ZIP again.
The phone’s Sending finished — check browser downloads status means sending has ended, not that the computer has successfully saved a usable file. Keep the phone page open until you have verified the saved copy. Each click is a new download; do not assume your browser will automatically resume an interrupted download.
Find the ZIP password and check your backup
- On the phone’s Wi-Fi transfer page, open Current ZIP Password. If the record is collapsed, expand it to see its filename, scope, file count, actual size and password.
- On the computer, use a tool that supports AES-encrypted ZIP and enter that password. Every generated ZIP is encrypted; the transfer webpage does not show its password.
- Verify extraction and open representative media files. Preserve the media and accompanying files together.
Use ZIP Password History on the phone to revisit older records. Save the needed password separately from the archive: a backup you cannot decrypt is not a usable recovery copy. The password visible in these screenshots belongs only to the demo archive.
Interruptions, cleanup and restoring media
Use Cancel to cancel a preparation or packaging task. While a ready ZIP remains available, use Download / download ZIP again after a failed transfer. Delete temporary ZIP removes the phone’s temporary archive, not the original media; another ZIP must be generated if you need it again.
Leaving the Wi-Fi page, stopping the service or putting the app in the background stops transfers and packaging; leaving the page removes the temporary ZIP. Media already saved in GPlayer remains. Return to the page, start again and authorize the browser as needed.
Deleting a password record does not remove encryption from an already downloaded ZIP. Preserve its password before deleting a record. To restore, first decrypt/extract the ZIP on your computer with a compatible tool, then follow the linked import and ZIP guides. The direct Files import route does not unpack encrypted ZIPs for you.
